Vida Mae Davis April 26, 1931 - June 18, 2024

Vida Mae Davis was born Vida Mae Sneed on April 26th, 1931, to Jonah and Vennah Sneed in Englewood Tennessee. She was one of 10 siblings and lived in Tennessee until age 11 when her family moved to North Carolina. As a young woman, she met the love of her life, Dewey Davis, and they married on June 16th, 1946.

Dewey and Vida Mae had five children: Linda, Carolitta, Stanley, Eddie and Patricia, with her sons Stanley and Eddie sadly passing away as children. In 1960, they moved their family to Boring, Oregon where they purchased the house that would remain their family home for the next 60 + years. Vida Mae and Dewey loved their home and were proud to open it to extended friends and family when they needed a temporary safe place to land.

Dewey and Vida Mae enjoyed 68 years of marriage together until Dewey’s passing in 2014.

She loved children and her decision to start providing in-home childcare has had a lasting impact on her life as well as the lives of many of the children she cared for. She built strong and lasting bonds with many of these children, becoming an adopted grandmother to several. All the kids that she baby-sat remember her & Dewey’s summer tradition of taking a gaggle of kids into the woods for camping, fishing and horseback riding… not for the faint of heart!

Later in life, Vida Mae was adopted by two feral cats; over the years these felines became her constant companions and brought her comfort and joy.

Vida Mae loved surrounding both the inside and outside of her home with flowers, especially roses. She lived life on her own terms, a prime example of being your own advocate in life. She was survived by her daughter Carolitta Renfro and granddaughters Sara and Amanda Theod.

Memorial will be held the afternoon of July 28th at the Eagle Creek Grange from 1-4p.m. 24491 SE Eagle Creek Rd, Eagle Creek, OR 97022.
