Patricia Ann Britain Massie was born in Pendleton to Frank and Anna Britain. She grew up in the Pendleton area, graduating from Pendleton High School in1956. After graduation she worked at the Telephone Co and Pendleton Woolen Mills.
Patricia had 2 previous marriages that ended in divorce, but happily welcomed 2 children, Julie in 1957 and Mark in 1962 from those marriages.
In the mid-sixties, Patricia moved to Portland and worked for Jantzen and Ford Industries. It was at Ford that she had a wonderful boss, Alma Allen, who became her very best friend. Patricia loved spending time with her family and friends.
As the saying goes, third times a charm! It was also at Ford that Patricia met the love of her life, Donald Massie and they were married in 1982. Don brought to the marriage 2 grown sons, Steve and Patrick. It was Steve and his wife Lisa who stood up for the happy couple. The couple shared a great life together, living in Oregon and Arizona. They enjoyed retirement time in Hermiston, until Don was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and passed away at home in 2012 with Patricia by his side.
When Patricia was also diagnosed with Alzheimer’s years later, her daughter moved her to a memory care facility in Gresham to have her close by. It was there that she passed away peacefully under hospice care.
Patricia enjoyed many things like reading, hunting, golfing, knitting, crocheting, but her true passions were gardening and birds.
Patricia is survived by her daughter Julie (Rick), son Mark (Gail), step-son Patrick (Lauri), grandsons Brian and Scott (Victoriya), 5 step-grandchildren, 5 step-great-grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter Emily. She is also survived by 3 sister-in-laws; Lou, Grace & Bev and a magnitude of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her 9 siblings; Bertha, Marie, Frank Jr., Eugene, Jack, Ruth, Edna, Charles & Virgil and step-son Steve.
Patricia has chosen to be cremated and joined with her loving husband. Together they will then be scattered per their wishes in the mountains at a later time. A viewing on Thursday, August 3, 2023 from 11:00am – 1:00pm and a memorial reception from 12:00 – 5:00pm at Gresham Memorial Chapel located at 257 SE Roberts Ave in Gresham OR 97080.
