In honor and loving memory of Matthew Wierima, who passed away on Friday, September 16th, 2022 of complications from an aneurysm, leaving us way too soon. Born May 30, 1978, Matt was what his name means, a gift from God. He loved growing up in Boring, Oregon, attending the Boring Grade and Middle Schools, graduating from Sandy High School and Pacific University, and was completing his credential in counseling at the time of his death.
He is preceded in death by his beloved Dad Mike Wierima and Auntie Carol Kopach, and loving grandparents Jack and Elaine Larson and Taimi and Ken Wierima. He is survived by his mom Jan Wierima and Best in the World brother Brian and sister in law Anita Wierima, his much loved nephew Ben and Niece Summer, the wonderful Reyes and Weston families, and so many friends who became treasured family over the years.
On Friday, October 7th, Matt will be laid to rest in a private service followed by a Memorial Service open to all at 2:00p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 507 W. Powell Blvd in Gresham, OR 97030. We thank Gresham Memorial Chapel for their wonderful care (flowers for the cemetery may be directed there) and Lincoln Memorial Park and Cemetery, Matthew’s final resting place. Finally, our huge thanks to the Neuro ICU medical teams and staff at OHSU who cared for Matt in his final journey.
