Martha Louise Hossack Hartman, 92, returned to her heavenly home on January 11, 2019. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her throughout her lifetime, giving her peace.
Martha was born to John and Katie Hossack, an electronic technician and a homemaker respectively, in Porterville, CA on November 27, 1926. As a young adult she found the Lord Jesus Christ as her savior and her life was an expression of that faith. Martha was an ordained minister with a Bachelor degree in Theology, and she taught the Bible for 50 years.
Martha was blessed with a large and loving family. She married her sweetheart, Edwin Lawwill Hartman Jr. in 1943, in Oakland, CA. Martha raised her seven children and many special “adopted” kids and grandkids, with patience, discipline, love and humility. She dedicated her children to God and encouraged them to know and follow the Lord.
Martha was a crafter at heart. She spent many hours on her gifts of personalized wedding cakes, embroidered quilts, wall hangings and designer clothing. Her different sewing, quilting, and embroidery machines were always holding the next project. These special items were always given with warmth and love to the receiver. She is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is dancing in the presence of the Lord.
Martha is survived by her sister; Gayle Hossack, daughters; Sheila (Clint) Fries, Sharon Goss, April (Norman) Klamm, Michelle (Jeff) Detwiler and Tracey (Rueben) Vargas, her sons; Stormy Hartman, James (Jan) Hartman, 18 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband; Edwin L. Hartman, Jr., her sister, Jacqueline Thomas, brothers; Ross and Russell Mack Hossack, her parents, granddaughter; Emily Detwiler and grandsons; Alan Hartman and Aaron McDonald.
There will be a celebration of Martha’s life will be held at 2:00p.m., Wednesday, January 16 at The Chapel located in Powell Valley Covenant Church
. Martha will be laid to rest next to her husband, at the Eagle Point National Cemetery, in Eagle Point, Oregon. The family request your prayers, condolences and fond memories in lieu of flowers and donations.

November 8, 2019 at 8:52 pmAs one of Marty’s many daughters I will always remember her for her girly advise while growing up. But I really got to know her better as an adult when she reminded me often how much Jesus loved me. I often comment that she prayed me into heaven as I was almost 50 before I had my life changing meeting with God. I am so greatfull that she never gave up on me!,!

November 8, 2019 at 8:52 pmMom, the sweetest person who gave up so much for me. Sound like anyone else we know? She taught us to love each other, speak with kindness, receive the poor, those who need help, orphans and widows. She was a great example of walking with the Lord Jesus all of her life. So grateful. Thank you Mom.

November 8, 2019 at 8:53 pmI sent Marty a Christmas card this past Christmas, I hope she got it. In it I thanked her so much for all she had done for me throughout the years. I had the privilege of knowing Ed-Fred (that’s what I called him) and I loved them both so much. I had met some of her children, grandchildren over the years back in Concord, and special friends of theirs in Jacksonville OR. I am sorry for your loss, but she is again with your Dad in Heaven. She will always be in my heart, and I can’t wait to see her again. Bless all of you.
