Vivian Louise Tatro was born on February 1st, 1932, to Elbridge and Marie Yeager in Portland, Oregon. As an infant she became known as Louise, which is the name she went by the remainder of her life. The Yeager family consisted of 6 children total. Louise was the last surviving member; outliving all of her siblings.
Louise graduated from Cleveland High School in 1949. She met her future husband, Delbert Henry Tatro, at Montavilla Church and they were married on February 16th, 1951. Shortly after they were married, they moved to Ottumwa, Iowa where Delbert attended the Midwestern School of Evangelism for a year.
They returned to Portland, Oregon after that and in 1952 their son, Jeffrey, was born. They lived above Delbert’s parents’ bakery in Southeast Portland until 1955 when their daughter, Janet, was born. Five months after her birth, they purchased the home that Louise remained living in until her death. Their daughter, Nancy, was born in 1961, completing their family.
Louise began volunteering at Parkrose Sumner Elementary School in the library in the late 1960’s. In 1974, she applied for and was hired as a full-time secretary at Parkrose High School. She retired from that position in 1993. After her retirement from the high school, she volunteered at Helensview High School for 10 years. She began volunteering at the Crossroads Foodbank, where she continued to work until 2026.
Louise is preceded in death by her first grandson, husband Delbert, and grandson Nathan. She is survived by son Jeff (Kathy); daughters, Janet (Ed) and Nancy (Randy); 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
