Kendall Johnson February 15, 1959 - February 16, 2024

Kendall Allen Johnson of Troutdale, Oregon passed away on February 16, 2024.

Kendall was born on February 15, 1959, to James Robert Johnson and Doris Eileen Johnson Sims in Gold Beach, Oregon. He proudly stated he was the 6th of 7 children. Kendall graduated from North Bend High School in 1977 where he played the drums in the Concert Band that attempted to be a Marching Band, was the President of the National Honor Society and part of the Drama club appearing in 3 plays. Kendall remained very close to his high school classmates, and he loved attending his class reunions. He enjoyed watching Oregon Ducks football and NFL Seattle Seahawks.

After graduation he went on to attend Trade School for Construction Mechanics and Office Work. Kendall welcomed his sons Matthew in 1988 and Mitchell in 1994. In the early 90’s, Kendall drove for Schwan’s and was one of his fond memories and great times at a job. He worked for Les Schwab from 1993 to 2001 alongside his friend Ben Johnson who he affectionately called his brother from another mother. In 2003, Kendall worked for the State of Oregon as an Office Specialist testing out new data systems.

Kendall started attending Rockwood Church of God the weekend after Easter 1993 and was the main IT and all-around handy man helping with the overhead projector, building the front lobby, manning the sound system, and putting together the slides. His passion was photography and the slide presentation often featured beautiful pictures that he had captured in true Kendall fashion.  In addition to photography Kendall loved his 1995 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am and could often be found exploring the great outdoors with the T-tops off, often telling friends he was driving topless.

Kendall was preceded in death by 2 of his siblings, Michael James Johnson, Joni Ruth Johnson, and his parents James and Doris. He is survived by his sons Matthew Allen Johnson and Mitchell Allen Johnson, and his siblings Robert Lee Johnson, Vicki Ann Hedrick, Douglas Edward Johnson, Gary Dale Sims, and numerous nephews and nieces.

A memorial service will be held at 1pm on April 6th, 2024, at Rockwood Church of God.

Sorry of everyone’s loss. Happy to know he is home with the Lord. I remember Kendall from church in Rockwood. He helped me get started with the projector for morning services. We enjoyed out time together while at church. We had a common bond with our interest in computers. I had moved out of the area decades ago but followed him on FB for a time, then lost touch. He will be missed.
