Joseph William “Bill” Winkler December 9, 1932 - January 26, 2019

Resided in Gresham

Long time Gresham resident Bill Winkler passed away Saturday night with his family by his side. Bill attended Troutdale Elementary and Gresham High School.  At 17, he joined the Army and was immediately shipped off to the Korean War.

He loved hunting, fishing and gardening. He enjoyed Country Western music, playing cards and slot machines.  Bill loved animals and enjoyed telling stories of his childhood in Troutdale, which he lovingly referred to as “his old stomping grounds.”  Most of all he loved spending time with his family.  He will be remembered by most, as an insufferable “kidder.”  He loved to make people laugh.

He is survived by his wife; Carol of 64 years, children; Susan, Brad, Linda and Cathy, 3 sisters, 3 brothers, 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m., Tues. Feb. 5, 2019 at Gresham Memorial Chapel. Private interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
