Laurel Mavis Ostgarden, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully. Born on September 25th, 1942, in Fosston, Minnesota, Laurel’s radiant spirit graced this world for over 80 years. Laurel was the cherished wife of the late T. Duane Ostgarden. Their love spanned over six decades, a testament to their unwavering commitment and affection. Together, they built a life that was a wellspring of love for their children and grandchildren, whose lives were deeply touched by her warmth, wisdom, and boundless love.
She was a dedicated educator in Portland’s public schools, inspiring countless students. Laurel found great joy in the outdoors and was a skilled seamstress. Devoted to her faith, Laurel served at Peace Lutheran Church in North Portland with deep reverence. Laurel will be remembered as a generous soul, always ready to lend a hand or sympathetic ear to those in need. Her legacy of love, compassion, and service will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to know her. Though she is profoundly missed, Laurel’s spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
A service for Harold Larkin will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Gresham Memorial Chapel, 257 SE Roberts Ave., Gresham OR 97080.
