Grace Rogers
May 2, 1953 ~ August 25, 2023
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday , August 31, 2023, at Pleasant Home Cemetery. It is located at 31698 SE Bluff Rd in Gresham, OR 97030. Visitation will be that morning from 10:00 – 12:00 at Gresham Memorial Chapel, 257 SE Roberts Ave, Gresham, OR 97030.
Grace was born the ninth of ten children in Red Bluff, CA to Raymond and Delmar Rogers. The family moved to Alberta, Canada where Grace took her early years of schooling. When Grace was around 4 or 5 years old, she remembers that she felt her need of coming to the Saviour to have her sins washed away. She had been frightened during a lightning storm and wanted the Lord to save her from her sins. This decision as a young girl was a turning point in her life.
In 1963 the family moved to Portland where she graduated from Portland Christian High School in 1971. Grace worked as a caregiver in several care facilities before she was employed at Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland as an aide for 9 ½ years.
After Grace visited her brother, Lloyd, in Ecuador for 5 months, she moved to be near her sister, Bonnie, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She worked as a housekeeper in the Christian Rest Home for 19 years. When our sister, Bonnie, went to be with the Lord in 2016, Grace moved to Fairlawn Retirement Village to be near her sister Faith, in Gresham, OR. In 2021, Grace moved to Huntington Terrace, in Gresham, where she lived until the Lord took her home.
We are very appreciative of the attentive care of Paul and Ruth with her practical needs. We want to thank Huntington staff and Bristol Hospice, who were a real support .
Grace is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Delmar Rogers; brothers, Floyd, Phil, and Tim Rogers; and sister, Bonnie DeGraaf. Grace is survived by her brothers, Lloyd Rogers (Linda); John Rogers (Nel); Paul Rogers (Candi); sisters Faith Sester (Gordon); and Ruth Rochat (John).
