Duane, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away on March 4, 2023, at the age of 81. Born on September 13, 1941, to parents Orville and Ione Ostgarden, Duane would go on to marry his beloved wife Laurel, a matrimony which has endured for more than 60 years. He was a proud father to his three children, Brian, Traci, and Bryce and adored father-in-law to Kelley, Michelle and Brian. Duane was a kind and loving presence in the lives of his grandchildren, Katie, Tyler, Maxwell, Christine, Wil, Kris, and Bethany.
For over three decades Duane devoted his working life to Pendleton Woolen Mills. During this time, he made many lifelong friends, while being dedicated and hardworking by all accounts. He had a passion for the outdoors; much of his preferred activities were hunting, fishing, camping, or adjacent to them. But no matter if he were found at camp or elsewhere, cribbage was his favorite game and a great joy to him. Many have been taught cribbage from his tutelage over the years. At this game he was quite nearly unmatched.
He was a kind soul who will be missed by all who knew him. He will be remembered for his kindness in life, his dedication to his family and friends, his strong character, and his heart. Now, Duane takes a deserved rest for a life well lived, turning in tired boots for immaculate wings. He is loved and deeply missed.
