Donald L. Walton September 2, 1929 - March 3, 2020

Don was born in Portland, Oregon to Oliver and Alice (Southam) Walton on Sept. 2, 1929. He was raised and educated in Portland, graduating from Roosevelt High School. Don worked for Safeway as a meat cutter before enlisting in the United States Army. After his honorable discharge Don married his high school sweetheart Leone Grotjohn. Together they raised three children. Don continued to work for Safeway retiring in 1992.
Don enjoyed fishing, reading, gardening and eating ice cream. As a member of Ascension Lutheran Church he took pleasure in singing at church. Don liked playing the harmonica, and listening to big band music. Everyone liked Don; he will be remembered for his cheerful demeanor, good sense of humor and being humble and kind.
Don is survived by his wife; Leone, daughters; Linda (Rev. Doug) Vold, Susan (David) Penk, and Donna (Randy) Walczak, seven grandchildren; Lexi, Reuben, Damon, Risha, Camille, Brianne and Carissa, five great grandchildren; Louise, Juniper, Oscar, Cormac, and Albert.
A memorial service will be rescheduled for a later date. Private family inurnment will be at Willamette National Cemetery.
