David Napoleon Gallant passed away on July 5, 2023 in Boring, Oregon. Dave was born on January 30, 1929 in Cedarbend Township, Warroad, Minnesota to James and Gertrude (Larson) Gallant. Dave spent his early years on his dad’s farm with his 9 siblings. He graduated from the 8th grade from a one room schoolhouse.
As a truck driver in the Army he served in the Korean War. He made his way to Oregon and worked various jobs. He began his own fuel service business delivering oil and sawdust to homes in the Portland area.
He married Kathleen Hassing on September 26, 1964. Their first child Michele was born in 1965. Then came their son, Matthew in 1967. Two more children joined the family, Nicole in 1970 and Noelle in 1972. In 1978 they purchased a berry farm near Boring which he farmed for over 40 years. Through the years Dave was a collector of old cars and John Deere tractors. He spent many years restoring tractors and using them on his farm. He was a charter member of both the Rose City Model T club and the Oregon Two Cylinder tractor club.
Dave is survived by his wife, their 4 children, 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, also his 9 siblings and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service for family will be held on Friday, July 21st in Gresham. A celebration of life for all friends and family will be held later this summer.
