David Allen Wilkinson, age 58, of Gresham, Oregon, passed away Wednesday, July 15th, 2026, peacefully in his home, surrounded by family. He was born September 12th, 1967, in Portland, Oregon. He is the son of Roland Ray Wilkinson and Anne Maari Pinegar, and stepson of Robert William Pinegar. David graduated from Columbia High School in Troutdale, Oregon, and briefly attended Eastern Oregon State University, where he played football. He spent six months living in Honolulu, Hawaii, which he fell in love with. Upon moving back to Oregon, he met his wife, Julie Rae Ulmen. They were married May 23rd, 1992, in Sandy, Oregon. David was a father to three children, Kalie, Nicholas, and Zachary, whom he loved. He coached them, and many of their peers, in sports, and through that their family made many lifelong friends. David was a sports fanatic who loved watching, coaching, and playing football, basketball, baseball, and softball. His favorite team was the Oregon Ducks, and he enjoyed his season tickets to the football games where he would spend many Saturdays cheering them on with family and friends. David began his career with PGE in 1995, where he worked for the line department in the warehouse. He spent many years playing in the company softball tournament in Bend, Oregon, which became a trip taken yearly by family and friends. David, also known as Papi, was a grandfather to five grandchildren who adored him. He frequently traveled to Maryville, Tennessee, to spend time with his daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughters. After his diagnosis, David was determined to make the most of the time he had, and the family took one final trip together to Hawaii, the place he’d fallen in love with all those years before. David was a loving husband, devoted father, and adoring grandfather. “Big Dave” was a loyal friend and gentle soul. He will be greatly missed. David is survived by his wife, Julie Wilkinson; mother Anne Pinegar; stepfather Robert Pinegar; sisters Julie Mick (spouse Abraham) and Selena Riddley (spouse Jason); children Kalie Sands (spouse Jeremy), Nicholas Wilkinson (spouse Abbey), and Zachary Wilkinson (spouse Alyssa); grandchildren Eleanor Sands, Evelyn Sands, Stella Wilkinson, Emerson Sands, and Cooper Wilkinson. He is preceded in death by his father, Roland Wilkinson.

July 17, 2026 at 4:02 pmI was fortunate to watch Big Dave, around sports, raise Zach, honestly and full heartedly. He was so genuinely present and taught his son as well as each and every teammate to face adversity with strength, determination, effort and a great attitude.
There’s a village behind your entire family, lean on us!
I’m truly grateful for the relationship and friendship Dave shared with me. 🙏🏼💪❤️🌎♾

July 23, 2026 at 1:22 pmI just wanted to say how amazing of a person Dave was. I had the pleasure of meeting and working w Dave at PGE for many years,. He was full of character and kindness. Dave was that person you could call on for help and a good laugh….. always so positive. It saddens me to think we won’t be blessed w this bright light of a person here on earth, but know that he is in a much better place…… pain free. I will be praying for your family to have peace during this tough time. God Bless
