Betilue (Betty) Edna Lundbom died August 29th, 2020 at the age of 93. She was born in Hill City Kansas to Jesse Marie VanDeventer and Charles Hildebrand on March 10, 1927. Betty was so small she was kept in a shoebox behind the coal stove to keep her warm.
Betty developed asthma at a young age and her doctor recommended a move west. They came to Gresham, OR when Betty was 14. She attended Gresham High. At 17 she met and eloped with the love of her life Daryl M Lundbom. They settled on the family farm, north of Pleasant Home, and raised their three children.
Betty was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was a salesperson, bookkeeper, dairy farmer, wine-maker, and storyteller.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister June Foreman, brothers Harold Garnett, Robert, and Charles Hildebrand, her beloved husband Daryl, and son Paul. She leaves behind two daughters Anne James of Ferndale WA and Carol Thompson of Gresham OR, 8 grandchildren, and many great and great great grandchildren.
Individual viewing will be held at Gresham Memorial Chapel on September 17th from 11:00am to 7:00pm. The chapel holds 25 people. Viewing is two at a time.
Graveside service for immediate family will be held at 11:00am September 18th at Forest Lawn Cemetery
Reception (social distance) will be held at Betty’s home from 1:00pm to 4:00pm on September 18th.
